N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is well-known for its antioxidant properties. It acts as a precursor to glutathione, which is one of the body’s most potent antioxidants and has a huge role in male fertility.
- Antioxidant activity: A randomized controlled trial of men taking NAC supplements daily for 3 months found a significant increase in the total antioxidant capacity and significant less oxidative stress compared to men taking placebo
- Improves semen volume: Research shows men taking NAC supplements daily for 3 months had a 1 mL improvement in semen volume compared to controls1.
- Improves sperm motility: Research demonstrates almost a 50% improvement in sperm motility in men taking NAC supplements daily for 3 months1.
- Improves testosterone: A second randomized trial of men taking NAC supplements daily for 3 months identified 60-unit increase in testosterone levels2. Normal testosterone is important for sperm production
- Improves sperm concentration: Some research has shown a 15% increase in sperm concentration in men taking NAC supplements daily for 3 months compared to placebo2.
