Selenium
- Sperm production: Selenium is involved in the synthesis of selenoproteins, which are essential for normal sperm production. Selenoproteins play a role in regulating sperm maturation, motility, and function.
- Sperm quality: Strong research demonstrates that 20 mg of selenium daily for 6 months is associated with significant increase in sperm concentration, motility, and morphology.
- Testosterone production: Daily selenium supplementation is associated with improvement in testosterone levels
- Pregnancy outcomes: A double-blind clinical trial showed that selenium supplementation significantly improved sperm motility and the chance of successful conception2.
