Vitamin C
- Sperm DNA Integrity: Vitamin C is known for its antioxidant properties, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals which helps sperm DNA from damage. Research shows that the percentage of sperm DNA damage was markedly reduced in men taking antioxidants in the form of Vitamin C and Vitamin E1
- Sperm Quality: Research shows a strong association between vitamin C intake and improved semen quality, specifically men taking at >75th% or at least 400 mg of vitamin C per day were noted to have the most significant improvement in sperm concentration, motility, and total progressively motile sperm count2.
- Overall health: Vitamin C is essential for overall health and immune function, which indirectly contributes to fertility. Poor health and immune function can affect fertility in men.
